Will you though? Over the summer I did some market research and according to my survey results, no you won’t!!! 93% of you have NEVER got around to printing a single image from the USB you were given from a previous session, despite on average this session being at least 4 years ago!!!
The Irish Times find a slighter better statistic but still more than half (53%) hadn’t managed to use their images for anything other than a FB profile picture update.
The vast majority of the population (according to these statistics) are investing time and money in photoshoots that they neglect the images from. Why? We have professional images captured for many reasons, but very often it’s to mark a special milestone such as arranging your first newborn photography session, a milestone or even capturing the generations together.
Why then would you choose to let them sit in the back of a drawer gathering dust?
Remember floppy discs? I do! I even found a few in a recent clear out! 😉 USBs are already changing, so I wonder what the technology will be in another 10 years? Will you computer still read a USB then? Maybe? Even if they are around for ever, do you trust the integrity of that disc? Can you be sure it won’t degrade or become corrupted over time? Do you really want to take that gamble with such important files?
So, your treasured memories are sat in the back of a dusty drawer and may or may not be able to be opened in the future. What if instead your favourite images were hanging on the walls to your home giving you a reason to pause, smile and reflect every time you pass?
Or what if you had a beautiful album that you could open whenever you like, offering you a fabulously tactile experience and the ability to transport your loved ones with you wherever you go?
The current trend of photographers going back to ‘the good old days’ of offering professional quality prints and printed products is for a reason. Families are finding they have years worth of memories sitting in drawers and are admitting that they just don’t have time to turn them into anything worthwhile. Those that have the time don’t know which lab’s offer the best quality and even if they did, they don’t know what to order or in what size, it all just becomes and overwhelming task that sits on a to do list…….. until it gets forgotten.
So you want someone who can do all this for you. You want a professional photographer you can trust to offer you the best service and guide you through the most appropriate products for your home and lifestyle in a size that looks like it’s supposed to be there……. don’t you? If you do, why not learn how to choose a newborn photographer in this blog.
