Obviously you’d expect me to say that as a photographer who offers Personal Branding and Headshot services, but don’t just take my word for it……
Recently I attended a LinkedIn masterclass with Greg Cooper and he was showing various examples of profiles to help illustrate his points. What became immediately obvious to me were the reactions in the room to various profiles. Some profile pictures looked like they had been taken on a night out in Ibiza quite a few years ago, others had someone else cropped out with only one of their limbs left in the frame. Neither of these scream “professional” and the comments in the room more than voiced those concerns!
First impressions count
You know that already! So why are you doing yourself a disservice using a headshot that doesn’t put your best foot forward?
So why are you over-riding all the hard work you’ve put into your content with a headshot that doesn’t do you justice?
Some of my clients need a full personal branding photoshoot which helps them tell their story visually. Others need one killer headshot that they can purpose across all platforms.
Getting a great new headshot doesn’t need to be painful. It can be relatively quick and easy and can do way more for the perception others have of your business than you might think.
If you fancy doing a quick fun test why not analyse the results of your LinkedIn profile picture to see if your headshot is a help or a hindrance. The software belongs to an American photography company and “grades” each image on different criteria from facial expression to lighting and composition.
It’s far from perfect and it’s only a computer programme, your own eyes and judgement will do a much better job of assessing your headshot than it can. It is however an opportunity to learn a little more about what makes a good headshot so if you decide to try to create your own.
